Ruth Mary Vahle, 91, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2015. Born in Westport, NY, she was the daughter of Dora Douglas Ward and Raymond T. Ward. Ruth lived her childhood years in Proctor, VT and for the past 60 years lived in Baldwinsville. She was predeceased by her husband Julius (Bud) Vahle, who was a professional engineer and was employed by GE for 45 years. Ruth was a stay at home mom, who raised five children. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made children's mittens and stoma covers for charity. She was an avid gardener and loved cats. She also enjoyed reading and bowling, and bowled on a league for Pascales. She is survived by her five children, Karen (Allen) Troutman of Baltimore, MD, Susan (Jim) Thornton of Liverpool, Janice (Jim) Ballway of Syracuse, Thomas (Patti Mascone) Vahle of Baltimore, MD, Marcia (Dave Augustine) Wadsworth of Pasadena, MD; three grandchildren: Kristy Rinaldo, Shann Smith, and Jesse Ballway; and three great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters: John Ward, Robert Ward, Thomas Ward, James Ward, Sister Miriam Ward, Rose Robinson, and Delores Swanson. Friends may call on Saturday, October 10, from 6-8 PM at the Welter-Price Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research at 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871 or the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Ruth's family wold like to extend a warm thank you to the nurses, CNA's, and staff at Menorah Park.
