Obituary of Joseph A. Wojtalewski

Joseph A. Wojtalewski, 96, a life resident of Syracuse, died on Thursday at Sunnyside Care Center. Joseph lived in Lyncourt and retired from New Process Gear. He was a communicant of Transfiguration Church. Joseph served in the US Army during WWII. He was also a member of General Pulaski Post 1650. Joseph was an avid fan of the Syracuse Orange and New York Yankees. He was truly loved by his family and friends. He will surely be missed. Joseph was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Bertha, in 2005 and his parents, Anthony and Maryanna Wojtalewski. Joseph is survived by his son Joseph (Janet) of East Syracuse; daughters: Kathleen Wojtalewski of Syracuse, Debbie Patchett of Clay; grandsons, Adam, Todd, Eric Wojtalewski & Alex Patchett; granddaughter, Danielle Patchett; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Wojtalewski, Ceil Hudzina, Regina Rhode; and brother Matthew. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 10AM in Transfiguration Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-7pm at the funeral home, 3111 James Street. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside Care Center for taking good care of Joseph during his stay there. Contributions may be made to Transfiguration Church.
