Bernard J. Sweeney, 81 of Eastwood passed away Sunday at the VA Medical Center. He was born on April 5, 1928 in Auburn the son of the late James and Katherine Crawford Sweeney. He was employed by SAVES Autobody Supply and formerly worked for 25 years at Auto Finishers Supply Company and Salina Chevrolet. He was a US Navy Veteran during WWII and former member to Westvale and Lakeshore Country Clubs. He is survived by his wife Carmella Marie Sweeney; sons: Michael of Las Vegas, Patrick (Judy) and Daniel of Syracuse; daughter Mary Sweeney of Las Vegas; two sisters: Helen Simmons of Skaneateles, Mary Jane Delaney of Auburn; grandchildren PJ and Alainna Sweeney and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Wednesday, December 30 at 9:30am at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and 10:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial is in St. Mary's Mausoleum with Military Honors. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7pm at the Funeral Home, 3111 James St. Contributions may be made to VA Medical Center, Volunteer Services Fund, 800 Irving Ave, Syracuse, NY 13210.
