Betty Jane Gundlach, 92, of Syracuse, died on Wednesday at the Loretto after a period of failing health. She was born on January 22, 1917 in Syracuse, daughter of late Edward J. and Lillian I. (Klock) Corbett. Betty Jane was employed for 12 years as the church secretary at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, retiring in 1986 and was formerly employed at Carrier Corp. for 12 years. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, a Communion Assistant, a member of the Witness Group and Senior Fellowship. She was a member for over 40 years and past president of the African Violet Society of Syracuse. Her first husband, Robert E. Gundlach, Jr. died in 1954. Her second husband, Richard "Dick" Gundlach died September 29, 2009. She is survived by her 2 sons, Thomas R. Gundlach and his wife Gwendolyn of Jaffrey, NH; and Gary E. Gundlach of Syracuse, NY.; a brother, Edward "Bruce" Corbett of Syracuse, NY; a sister, Claire E. MacDowell of Calabash, N.C.; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call between 11am to 12pm on Tuesday, January 19 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. A Funeral Service will follow at 12pm. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Mrs. Gundlach's name to the St. Stephen Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Dewitt Street, Syracuse, NY.
